Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the competition final.
Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a torrid period, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.
The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with former coach his previous coach.
Currently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks the player's first trophy following the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after that period of the previous year.
The win also signifies he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my both daughters at once, so to secure a championship is particularly special," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.
His counter-punching strategy and frequent outbursts on court had prompted some to wonder if his ability to compete at the highest level was over.
However the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an better service.
The champion fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five points to take the lead.
The pair exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour championship, took control to create a decider.
He saved 4 early chances in a tight third set before the Russian won the break to that score to close out the victory.
Appropriately, he secured the title with a point at the net area, with Moutet failing to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
